Three questions before commissioning medical education
1. What change are you trying to demonstrate, and why?
Define the educational or practice gap and the intended HCP cohort. Explain why the proposed outcome ambition is appropriate, rather than selecting it because it appears more impressive.
2. Does the intervention provide a credible route to that change?
Consider the content, format, reinforcement, local implementation and dependencies beyond education itself. Make clear which assumptions support your expectations and which still need testing.
3. Can you assess the change credibly?
Identify the assessment tools and data sources, confirm access and permissions, and establish whether the population, timing and follow-up fit the intended claim.
